With the need to protect the health of our planet have come economic, political, and cultural changes that have transformed the ways we work and our responsibility as individuals to care for the environment. New professions – so-called green job – that help reduce the ecological footprint of human activity, protect and conserve ecosystems and biodiversity have attracted growing interest and fostered adaptation to changes in the environment. Which sectors of the economy are most attentive to ecological transition? To answer this question and address related issues, a meeting and short documentary film presentation is jointly organized by Casacomune and CinemAmbiente.

The accounts of canal keepers and their deep knowledge of “carrying water” in the rice fields of eastern Piedmont, Europe’s largest area of rice cultivation. The canal keepers relate the history of the system of irrigation channels that has formed the landscape for generations, the heritage of knowledge, technology, and relationship between man and nature.
The documentary is a production of the Department for Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition, Università del Piemonte Orientale.
