MNMUR will hold a creative recycling workshop for children. The aim is to each them about the importance of recycling and the reuse of daily objects and material and to raise awareness about waste and respect for the environment. To do this, the workshop will involve the children in making keychains from bicycle inner tubes. The materials and tools are simple and easy to use: scissors, a hand vice, and a punch cutter.
Procedure
Introduction. A brief talk will be given about rubber inner tubes, bicycle tires, and their reuse
Making the keychain. Each child will make his/her own keychain using the material provided
Step 1. Cut a piece from the inner tube
Step 2. Punch a hole for the ring
Step 3. Place the keychain in the vice to close it
Step 4. Insert the ring
Who we are
MNMUR deals with DIY design products: small product series or limited editions – handbags, wallets, and other accessories made from recycled bicycle inner tubes and tires which, because not normally recycled, accumulate in bicycle repair shops. The project began as a collaboration between Marco Giambra and Laura Comino who wanted to explore alternative materials. In 2009 they produced their first prototypes that gave a new lease on life to preexisting products.
