CIRCOLO DEI LETTORI
10:00 A.M.

Two years after its premier, the FI(na)LMENTE project returns to CinemAmbiente in an expanded version. In response to the need to develop new synergies in scientific communication, the project steps up to the challenge of an increasingly connected society where access to information is rapid but not always verifiable or comprehensible. In this context, scientific research is called upon to leave academia behind and come into the public spotlight with tools that make complex content accessible without oversimplification. Taking an example from the University of Zurich’s Science Filmmaking Marathon, FI(na)LMENTE explores cinematographic language in a dynamic, direct, and exciting format.

For FI(na)LMENTE ver 2.0 CinemAmbiente, the Doctorate School, University of Turin, and the InTo Brain Association renew their joint collaboration, while taking on board the Scuola di Studi Superiori Ferdinando Rossi, University of Turin (SSST). The project opens new perspectives by involving twelve graduate students from twelve disciplines, plus eight SST students. During the 4-day workshop, the participants will be guided by filmmakers from Zenit Arti Audiovisive in visual storytelling and filmmaking. The aim is to transform their respective research areas into short science films that are accessible, creative, and engaging. The videos will treat four complex environmental issues: glacial retreat, nuclear power plants, the role of bees in ecosystems, and the chemistry of popular herbal infusions.

Nuclear Memories
Angelo and Antonio spent their working lives at the Caorso nuclear power plant. With Angelo Giostri and Antonio Saraconi. From research by Adna Camdzic. Produced by Adna Camdzic, Catarina Cabral, Elena Del Col, Matteo Sartini.

The Climate Archive
The Italian Glaciological Committee preserves the memory of an endangered species: alpine glaciers. With Gianni Mortara. From research by Francesco Parizia. Produced by Francesco Parizia, Francesca Borghesi, Marco Garbaccio, Samuele Giatti, Chiara Platania.

The Sound of Biodiversity
Some pollinators, bees and hoverflies, produce a different sound while flying: recognizing them allows us to defend them. From research by Simona Alberti. Authored by Simona Alberti, Ananya Gupta, Luca Manassero, Nicolò Brunacci, Viola Cramer.

Chemistry matters
Stress, insomnia, headaches, bloating, anxiety–in search of the perfect herbal tea, to combat modern ills with the ancient power of plants. With Giorgia Goldini. From a research by Giulia Menzio. Produced by Giulia Menzio, Victor Godwin, Nicoletta Scanferlato, Alessandra Ferrari, Giulia La Rocca.

The film screenings will be followed by a round table discussion on the topic of open science and authentic science communication that invites dialogue without compromising its quality or credibility.
