A huge artistic installation that greets our view. Yet it\u2019s only there to show that we\u2019ve entered into a new era, an era in which we must adapt to climate crisis. The images represent the retreat of all the world\u2019s glaciers.\u201d<br \/>\nAnne de Carbuccia<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blue Thread<\/strong> is an artistic study of a cover pulled over the Presena glacier to protect it from melting. For 5 months every year, the Consorzio Ponte di Legno \u2013 Tonale covers the glacier not to save it but rather to slow its retreat. In 2020 under the heat of the July sun, Anne spent several days filming her documentary <em>Earth Protectors<\/em>. The sight of a covered glacier has a certain impact. A novel landscape that elicited the awareness that she was witnessing something physically and visually new, which scientists call the Anthropocene. Thus her work was created \u2013 a series of 26 images \u2013 featuring a blue thread that ties the cover together. Looking at the images, an observer proceeds beyond the physical documentation of a covered glacier to a visual experience beyond space and time.
