Concepts have to be explained quickly, concisely, visually, and often oversimplified. How then can science be communicated in ways that are both clear and accurate? How can information be made accessible without dumbing down? Researchers are called upon to publicize their findings and make them comprehensible for general audiences. The FI(na)LMENTE project, now in its second year, was created to help young researchers learn how to communicate science and use audiovisual means to accomplish this. The resulting short films are winners of the Premio nazionale Aldo Fasolo, promoted by the neuroscience doctorate program, University of Turin in collaboration with l’Associazione InTo Brain. The films were created by the students at the beginning of their studies and selected by a panel of experts. The films offer original perspectives on neuroscience in the exploration of the relationship between mind, body, environment, and society.

Following the screening, the audience is invited to attend the round table on the challenges in science communication and disinformation in particular: how to spot it and fight it.

Speakers
Silvana Dalmazzone, professor of environmental economics and climate change, delegate of the provost for Public Engagement and Social Impact

Adriano Favole, professor of cultural anthropology, delegate of the provost for Coordination and Support of Science Communication

Andrea Calvo, professor of neurology, course coordinator for neuroscientific research, University of Turin

Giulia Francesca Muggeo, researcher in popular cinema and radio and television studies, University of Turin

Francesca Valetti, professor of biochemistry and member of the Public Engagement Committee of the University of Turin

Moderators
Silvia De Marchis, Francesco Ferrini, Ilaria Gabbatore (Scientific committee of the award)

WEDNESDAY 3 JUNE SALA 3 10:00 Science pervades social media in short videos and AI-generated content.
