SATURDAY 10TH JUNE, CINEMA MASSIMO – SALA SOLDATI, H. 4:00 pm<\/p>\n

Cinema as cross-cultural exchange <\/span>telling the story of <\/span>the <\/span>climate crisis through war<\/span>s<\/span> and human mobility<\/span><\/p>\n

‘<\/span>Superottimisti<\/span> on the road’ is the result of <\/span>a<\/span> training and film production <\/span>course held <\/span>in Kenya <\/span>for<\/span> young university students coming from different African countries.<\/span> The project <\/span>was <\/span>set up<\/span> by <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Superottimisti<\/span>\u201d<\/span> (<\/span>a regional family film archive with headquarters in Turin<\/span>)<\/span> and supported by the Italian Cultural Institute in Kenya<\/span>,<\/span> with the collaboration of the NGO JRS East Africa.<\/span> The project<\/span> took place in December 2022 and focuse<\/span>d<\/span> on<\/span> recovering, <\/span>restoring<\/span> and creatively <\/span>showcasing<\/span> archival footage from Nairobi.<\/span> There will be a screening <\/span>of the short film<\/span>,<\/span> Shine Again<\/span>, made by the students during the workshop in Kenya. This will be followed by a wide-ranging debate aimed at analysing <\/span>important issue<\/span>s<\/span>, such as<\/span> the repercussions of climate change on the lives of local populations. It<\/span> will<\/span> also <\/span>deal with<\/span> topics relat<\/span>ing<\/span> to inter-ethnic dialogue, <\/span>immigration,<\/span> and the increasing <\/span>power and influence<\/span> of criminal organisations which fuel conflicts, thanks to contribution of <\/span>UNHCR, UNICRI, Comune di Torino, <\/span>JRS e Centro Astalli (Ufficio del JRS in l\u2019Italia).<\/p>\n

The event also benefits from the patronage of UNHCR.<\/span><\/p>\n
